Another Challenge

Just when you think

you have cleared the storm,

there’s another front ahead.

As you look at it with dread,

you ask yourself

will the night ever 
go to bed?

I’m learning that grief

is not something

you get over,

it just lingers

like a stubborn fog.

Sometimes it dissipates

for a bit and then

you’re stuck in another bog

as it sucks you down again.

You can’t see ahead,

you can’t see
what’s behind,

and how much progress

you’ve made because

inside the white out

you feel blind.

Perhaps it’s a sign that

you must go on,

you must make sense of this

somehow, some way.

You will get through this

one step, another day

to try and leave
the anxiety and grief behind.
