Funny how the sun
never burns itself out
and has to take a few
days off.
Or that the moon
never bangs into something
losing its sight
so it can’t rise at night.
Or how the clouds
go through certain moods
throughout the year,
whether they rake
across the sky
like wispy hair.
Or clump like massive sponges
sucking up the humid air
as they prepare to rain
and then recycle once again.
Or how they weep
in winter
sometimes sharp
like shards of glass,
or fall as pellets of hail
that pummel the grass.
Funny how there are
constant things
reminding us that
the days will continue.
Nature’s constant companions
that will always be there,
something you can rely on
when life seems so unfair.
