The chip
...max 6 musicians (at this time..!)
Filling up some holes in the spectrum with a synth brass. I'm a bit worried the music starts to distract from the text too much. Oh well, I'll let you, the listenener, be the judge of that :D An alternative mix of this piece can be found in #272595
High quality download is just the synth part only.

I mean, your ad fits here musically very well. So it's a question of the mix, how to place the instruments in relation to the voice. It's also a matter of taste :)

Hmm you're right... I typically fail to think of things like "panning" causing all instruments to sound in the middle. It might help to put some instruments to the side and keep the voice central.

I don't master sidechaining, so unfortunately I can't say what it would be like to attach instruments to the voice. Would that give a different result?

I'm not a fan of the effect created by side-chaining (but I have very limited experience with it, so maybe there are more subtle possibilities I'm not aware of).

I'm not sure there's an awful lot to learn to be honest. Basically you use one track to change the volume in another track. E.g. every time a kick drum sounds, the other instruments are lowered in volume. The plugin that does this is a compressor. The instruments that need to change volume go into the "main input", and the modulator (kick drum) goes into the "side input". The side-input drives the gain of the compressor thus modifying the volume of the instruments going into the main input. To me it sounds like a cheap party trick :)

While sidechaining is certainly used in party music, I don't necessarily see it as a party trick :D Thanks - you motivated me.<3

I guess it can be used in a more experimental way. In fact it could be seen as a kind of amplitude modulation where the amplitude varies at audio rates (more or less boiling down to "multiplying" two audio tracks together. Hmm this and variations of this should be quite easy to try out in supercollider. Maybe I'll do some experiments :) )

Thanks, I'm certainly not a mix expert. But I'm curiously waiting for the sidechain trial. My first test still doesn't convince me :D

Musically it's perfect <3. Would you like me to send you my separate tracks so that you can work on the mixing to your liking? The problem we have here is that we add our instruments on tracks already mixed and there is very little possibility to work

Sure, I will see if I can upload my separate tracks as "high quality download". I do not really have a desired end result in mind - just curious what it could sound like if we took another degree of freedom into account.

Ok, I've added the uploads to the respective tracks #272503 and this one #272559 Thanks for doing an experiment with it :)
