Wade Horn section not my thing, but others here are into that. Played for a few years in a "big band" horn section...no spontaneity. At heart I'm just a jammer. +1

SoulFingers Jamming is always a good thing, no matter if it's jazz or Rock or whatever ;)
To make a whole horn section be able to jam is hard... you have to know each other's playing very well...

Wade Most here don't do it that way. They record all the parts themselves (just saxes). Not many trombone or trumpet types here. They are even less listened to than sax players! +1

SoulFingers Ah, ok. I think this is what the Memphis horns sometimes did in the studio. These guys did clever arrangements, especially live - only two guys but always sounded like more ;) +1

It's a pity horn sections have all but disappeared IMO. Live they are unbeatable - a friend of mine tour manages the Jools Holland band here in the UK. As I could get on the guest list I used to go to several gigs every year just to bask in the horn stabs - powerful stuff. lol +1

SoulFingers Full acknowledgement... the sound and the show a good horn section can produce is a big mood factor... check this out: https://youtu.be/RwvB4rN30pw +0
