Been practicing my Oud a bit. Just a little excerpt of a longer piece. Will start posting a number of Oud works at some point, when there is an Oud and World music option. Whatever comes from here, I love oud sound and feel, I discovered it with Ara Dinkjian/Arto Tunçboyaciyan records (amazing armenian musicians)

I would go for an Arabic oud. Mine was custom made by Nazih Ghadban - http://www.oudnazihghadban.com/
I also like Shehata ouds - these are two of the best in world - though somewhat expensive. I have also seen some good ouds on Ebay, but you have to keep your eyes open. +1
