Fourty Nine
Been a while since I last got at my drums and I have a backlog of stuff to do, some private and some I want to do. But I thought I'd get back in the saddle with this gentle gem from JMB and Marc.
Basic remit was to keep it gentle and supportive but also try and join in with some of JMB's lovely syncopations. I did this largely with over-the-bar fills and pushes, trying to go for a delicate intricacy ...

Thank you. The temptation with such funk is to get stuck in, I just wanted it to groove. But Jorg gives such lovely syncopation pointers in his playing it’s rude not to pick them out. The hard bit is judging when to let him ‘funk’ and to get out of the way. Such an easy player to latch on to for me though.

Hi MPointon, just fine drumming! Very tasteful and ... as you said: soft! Rusty spots? Since Corona I have them too, feel with you.
Many thanks for your great track! :W +1

Thank you Wade. Hard with tracks like this as they can go two ways: get stuck in and nail the ‘funk’ or just take a back seat and bustle away.

Thanks Marc. As I said on your upload: tough track. It’s funky, it’s cool but I felt it was laid back. I could have easily got stuck in with a powerful, busy groove. But I just wanted something with more... I don’t know, air? I hope that makes sense.
