This piece left me speechless. Guitar, voice and saxophone create something that is more than the sum of its parts. It just stirred me. So, (so far) lacking any bass remix, I tried to play something that might work with it.
For my fellow bass players, some info on the tone:

Thank you so much. The song really talked to me and it was like it dictated to me what I had to do. My amateur technique didn't help (you can hear some slight temporal imperfections here and there) but once I got really into the flow it sounded better. I did lots of takes, always the same problem - it was difficult to really get into the flow at the beginning.

Thank you, both for the praise and the advice. I was afraid of the bass becoming overbearing and reducing Shi's and laurentsax's wonderful impact and dynamics... I prefer to err on the low side, so this coming from a monitor set-up, note taken.
