Til We Meet Again (full band)
I had uploaded a couple other versions of this and removed them, first one I left too much dead air at the end (DUH), and the 2nd one I think the mastering put too much compression on it. It seemed to mess with her voice in my attempts to master (I think because of mp3 generation degrading). So now I went back to a "pre-master" mix and it sounds cleaner on the vocs. I added drums, bass, piano, gtr, and ...

Thanks. I am used to having all HD stems to work with (pref dry) for final mix/master, but this turned out ok just having mp3. Frankie did supply a HD stem and I have that, but the vocal and his gtr are via mp3 mixed with my work. THAT is the only problem I have with this system. The people and talent is great, but this system seems to foster only jam tracks. I have yet to have a track I have been on here where EVERYONE supplies HD stems. Always happens where some do and some don't. Only works if everyone supplies HD stems. Alas it is what it is, and turned out well in spite. :) Jammixes it is.

Well the problem has to do with "generations" of mp3. First post is mp3, someone downloads it and uses it in a new mp3 mix (so that is 2nd generation mp3 in that mix), then a 3rd person grabs the 2nd generations mp3 mix and uses it, so the original mp3 would then be 3rd generation..... mp3 downsizes the wav by removing bits of data. If you picture it as dots in a TV screen, the dots don't degrade it too much. THAT is how mp3 works. At least that is MY understanding of it. There are a few variables in this, so I am only guessing. It might be that Alice had applied some compression to her vocals, and so when I tired to master the mix it applied even more compression so it messed it up. Really to be truthful, I was only guessing as to the problem, but whatever was the cause, it is true that the pre-master mix sounded clearer. I learn from people all the time about these things. If I am wrong and need to learn I am open to that.

I saw you downloaded the "mastered" mix. You did hear the distortion in the vocs on that mix? It all started with your great acoustic track. Looking forward to more with you!

The acoustic gtr version is great as is, but I wanted to see how it sounded with more instruments. It does morph it. Your work is so easy to work against. <3
