GrooveEnth Sonar was ok but I found myself getting annoyed with it in little ways - e.g. it resets the damn metronome settings every time you open the options dialog, it crashes if you try automate some effects parameters etc so I made a conscious effort to check out Reaper.
The whole FX management is 10x better in Reaper - you can actually _see_ when/how the compressor is kicking in for example and you get a nice real-time spectrum in the eq. Most of all, it has the feel of a program that is actually maintained by people who care about it. Sonar just seems like a giant corporate product where nobody's that bothered about fixing up the niggling minor issues.
